Damn Nature U Scary of the Day: A 16-foot-long Burmese python was recently caught and killed in the Florida Everglades.
When officials opened the snake’s belly they found a second surprise: The python had just consumed a 76-pound adult deer.
“This is clearly an extreme event,” Everglades National Park python specialist Skip Snow told the Sun-Sentinel. “It shows you they can eat huge things.”

Look At This Heroic Dog of the Day: Meet Buster: A 9-year-old fawn boxer who was severely injured protecting his home in St. Paul from a knife-wielding prowler.
His owner, who had happened to be out at the time purchasing supplies for a bow-hunting trip, returned home to find Buster covered in deep lacerations. He had apparently attempted to bite into a hunting knife being brandished by the thief, causing him to shatter several teeth.
“Every room of my house was filled with blood. It was like a murder scene,” said owner Larry Wagaman.
The perp (or perps) managed to make away with several items, but left the knife — which belongs to Wagaman — behind. “He’s a dog that comes around every 100 years,” Wagaman said, adding that Buster “fought him off every room they were in.”
The courageous canine underwent surgery at the University of Minnesota veterinary hospital. He’s recovering at home now, where he’s returned to his duties as guard dog. “Even with all the wounds,” says Wagaman,”he wants to sit up and look out the window.”
The medical expenses are steep — over $3,000 so far, but Wagaman says Buster is worth every penny: “That’s a lot of money, but I don’t care. He’s a hero.”
